Letting your ears trail in an American dog park is the assurance of hearing almost every time a story of dog theft. The story of Alfred the bulldog and his disappearance is hard to believe. His master, Will McGinnis, told us about it. That was almost a year ago, Alfred has never been found since. In the United States, more than two million dogs are stolen each year, that’s 25 times more than in France. The practice has become so common that it has a name: dognapping. And dognappers are more and more violent. They no longer hesitate to threaten owners with assault rifles. Even celebrities are not spared. Last year, the “Lady Gaga and her stolen dogs” case made headlines. Criminals shot a man while he was walking the singer’s three dogs. Two of them were stolen. The last managed to escape. A few days later, the thieves were arrested, the dogs found. Their keeper is now out of danger. TF1 | Report A. De Précigout, A. Pocry, S. Belmar.
