Faure Gnassingbé: ‘Not ready to give up a single centimeter of our territories’

The Togolese president was in the savannah region at the weekend. Part of this region is plagued by terrorist attacks. Faure Gnassingbé had the opportunity to meet prefects, mayors, representatives of foreign communities and religious denominations. In front of them he showed his will to stop terrorism.

“We want to keep all our territory as well as our producers so that everyone can run their business freely”. This is what Faure Gnassingbé said during the meeting with the prefects, mayors, representatives of foreign communities and religious denominations in the savannah region.

The President called on his interlocutors to be vigilant, to change their behavior and to take joint action against security threats and violent extremism facing the countries of the sub-region.

Faure Gnassingbé calls for solidarity with FDS

“We must all remain in solidarity with the law and security forces engaged in the fight and be ready to denounce any suspicious behavior or movement to the local authorities… Day by day we do everything on our side to give essential to Operation Koundjoaré,” he said.

And to Faure Gnassingbe to assure: “… We are not ready to cede a single centimeter of our territories to these armed groups”.

The representatives of the living forces expressed their gratitude to the President of the Republic for all his efforts in favor of peace and socio-economic development.

The prefectures of Kpendjal and Kpendjal-Ouest, located east of the Savanes region, on the border with Benin and Burkina-Faso, are in the grip of terrorist attacks. Interventions by armed groups have already caused numerous deaths, injuries and displacement.

The meeting with the living forces of the savanna region took place on the sidelines of the apotheosis of the Forum of Agricultural Producers of Togo (FoPAT), which took place on January 14 in Dapaong.
