Tombi, a once stray ginger cat, was welcomed with open arms in Özlem Pinar Ivascu’s class. It quickly found its place in the daily lives of the students, who all fell under the spell of the adorable feline. One day, parents expressed their disagreement and asked that the animal no longer be present in the class. This decision upset everyone around Tombi.

“It’s good for them”
Ozlem shared with The Dodo all the good things brought Tombi to the students in his class. Since installing the stray cat, the teacher has noticed that her students are more focused and less agitated. She testified: “The children get to school on time and take care of Tombi.” Integrated into many rituals, the cat daily brings much to the students, who feel reassured in its presence. Numerous photographs testify to this: the cat close to the children sits next to them and shares both work and rest times.
For the teacher, the ginger cat’s presence was crucial, and a balance could be found in the class group.

An idea that was not unanimous
Unfortunately, the parents of a student once showed their displeasure with the presence of this cat. In their eyes, such an animal should not be present in a class, and its presence disturbs students in their daily tasks.
Reluctantly, the teacher and director of the establishment had to make the decision to leave Tombi. Ozlem was able to find a place for him in a family.
A more than expected return
The cat has not got used to its new family. The school teacher therefore took the initiative to welcome him to her home. However, the feline remained sad and melancholy.
At the school, many parents and students mobilized to ensure this Tombi returns to school. Meanwhile, the parents who motivated the cat’s departure have reversed their decision.

With great relief, Tombi could re-enter the classroom, to the delight of himself, the teacher and the students.
