Who wants the “Josephine Pavilion”? This restaurant located on avenue Napoléon-Bonaparte in Rueil-Malmaison (Hauts-de-Seine) was twice targeted by a molotov cocktail during the night from Friday to Saturday. An attack that did not make a victim. Two men suspected of being the perpetrators of the first attack were arrested almost immediately. They were taken into custody for attempted destruction by fire in an organized gang.
Shortly after two o’clock in the morning, a dog brigade crew saw two men get out of a vehicle and throw two flaming bottles at the front of the business. Despite the late hour, there are still customers inside the restaurant. But no one is hurt. The start of the fire was brought under control by the security officer of the Pavillon Joséphine.
Meanwhile, the police are in pursuit of the two men. They try to flee on foot. One of them even tried to climb a gate to escape the officials and seriously injured his hand. He will be transported to the Quatre-Villes hospital before being transferred to a specialized service in Saint-Antoine.
Already hammer damage a few days earlier
A little later, shortly before four in the morning, other individuals went there in turn and threw Molotov cocktails at the front of the restaurant. Once again, the security guard succeeded in extinguishing the fire on his own. This time, no one is arrested.
The reason for these attacks is currently unknown. The Nanterre public prosecutor’s office entrusted the investigation to the local police station. Apparently, the business with the historic facade, was taken over some time ago. It has become a “chic and trendy” restaurant. A few days ago, it would have already been degraded with hammer blows.
