Heavy. After the United States, the relics of Bernadette Soubirous join the British Isles

The blessing of the relics of Saint Bernadette took place on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at the Cave of Massabielle at heavy (Hautes-Pyrenees). The relics join the British Isles and Scottish, Welsh and English dioceses and shrines.

“The Little Saint of Lourdes”

The relics of Bernadette Soubirous, “the little saint of Lourdes”, had already traveled to the United States between April and August 2022.

The relics have been kept in a gold reliquary since 1925. They are bone fragments and the hair of Bernadette Soubirous, who witnessed 18 apparitions of the Virgin Mary in 1858 on the site of the Grotto of Massabielle.

Bernadette Soubirous was canonized in 1933 by Pope Pius XI.
