Heavy Rain Pound Fire -Herded Los Angeles as Serious Storms Barrel Through

One of the strongest storms of the season slammed fire-fought Los Angeles with heavy rain, sent streams of mud and dirt across roads and swept a fire department’s vehicle from a Malibu road into the sea, the authorities said.

A member of Los Angeles Fire Department was inside the vehicle as it was swept away from the road with a large waste stream along the Big Rock Road in Malibu, said a public information manager for the department in a speech on X.

“Fortunately, the member was able to leave his vehicle and reach security with easier damage. He was transported to a local hospital as a caution,” said Pio Erik Scott.

There is a major concern about flooding, mud lids and landslides, especially in the incineration arrangements of last month’s devastating palisades and Eaton fires in LA.

LA Mayor Karen Bass said the city prepared by clearing catch pools with fire waste, offering residents over 6,500 sand bags, setting up over 7,500 feet of concrete barriers and having systems in place to catch contaminated runoff.

Sheriff’s deputies helped residents prepare with sand bags and released mud and waste security tips, Sheriff Robert Luna said in Los Angeles County at a news conference on Wednesday. “Our homeless outreach teams … actively announces individuals living in flooded areas such as the LA River, Coyote Creek and other key waterways, and encourages them to move.”

The sheriff urged residents to prepare in case they have to evacuate.

“Unfortunately, we have witnessed several, several cases in the past of Swift-Water Rescues, where people were caught in dangerous, fast moving water, and of course we want to prevent it,” he said.

“Nothing that you have at home is worth your life. If you decide to stay in your property in an evacuated area, waste from the combustion arrangements and storms can hinder roads and we may not be able to reach you,” he warned.

The rain will fall overnight with a chance to linger showers on Friday.

The storm first hit the San Francisco Bay area on Thursday morning with heavy rain and winds up to 62 km / h.

Flood watches were in force from San Francisco to San Diego.

The same system brought snow further north.

In the Portland area, dozens of cars and trucks were involved in a pile in the middle of Whitout conditions on Interstate 84 according to Oregon State Police. No serious injuries were reported.

Very heavy snow also hits the Sierra Nevada mountain range. Up to 8 feet of snow is possible.
