Supermarket, hypermarket, convenience store… Tens of thousands of food products exist. But which ones are really doing well and have carved out a special place for themselves in the hearts of consumers? This is the question posed each year by the Nielsen IQ Institute, which has just unveiled its new rankings. Verdict? In 2022, the 10 best-selling references are… drinks. And the one that takes first place is none other than the 1 liter bottle of Ricard, with a turnover of 126 million euros.
Ricard, Cristaline and Coca-Cola are the 3 best-selling references in supermarkets
On the second step of the podium, the pack of 6 bottles of 1.5 l of Cristaline (117 million euros of turnover). Despite its recent price increase, the cheapest water on the market continues to appeal to the French. The 1.75 l bottle of Coca-Cola closes this podium (72 million euros in revenue). Note that this top three already monopolized the ranking in 2021. The packs of Heineken 20 x 25 cl, Coca-Cola 6 x 33 cl, Volvic 6 x 1.5 l, Hépar 6 x 1 l, of Desperados 20 x 25 cl share the rest of the cake. William Peel whiskey closes this list with two references (70 cl and 1 l).

The 1 kg Nutella spread is the best-selling product excluding drinks
Excluding beverages, dairy products, hygiene products and those dedicated to breakfast are popular. Number 1? The Nutella spread of 1 kg (39 million euros of ca). Its 825 g version comes in third place (31.1 million euros in sales). The Caprice des Dieux cheese (300 g) takes second place on the podium (31.5 million euros in sales). President soft butter 250 g, Carte Noire coffee 3 x 250 g, Catsan Hygiène plus 10 l litter and Lotus Confort toilet paper complete this list of the best-selling products in supermarkets. Note the entry of three references in 8th, 9th and 10th place: Lotus Confort x 24 toilet paper, Manhattan salad & Cie from Sodebo and Bon Paris ham 4 slices from Herta. So many “sacred” products that should not suffer too much from inflation in the coming months, distributors having the habit of not touching their price, so as not to scare away customers.
