An elderly dog is found near a highway
Fionna had been missing for a month.
It’s time to get out your tissues! In July, a couple notified Mitchell County Animal Rescue, Inc., of a stray dog found near a highway.
“She was very quiet and shy”
Initially, he thinks the dog ran away because of the fireworks being set off on the US National Day which takes place on the 4th of July.
They soon realized it was a frightened-looking dog. Initially, the animal refused to move from the car.
The couple persisted and finally managed to put him in confidence: “She was very calm and shy”, explained Marilyn Williams. “She never barked once. She never peeked.”
After a good night’s sleep, the couple called the Mitchell County Animal Shelter and brought in the silent pup in hopes of reuniting her with her owners.
The owner was found by the association
As soon as the dog walked through the door, officers recognized the animal. This is Fiona, an elderly dog who had disappeared a month earlier.
The agents were thus able to contact the owner of the dog who hastened to recover it.
“When Fiona heard it, she was so excited,” a shelter worker told The Dodo.
