Inflation is felt everywhere in Europe. More and more citizens find themselves with unpleasant surprises when paying for their fuel, their electricity bill or simply their children’s school supplies.
And the price increase is felt at all levels. Emma Gil, a reporter for the Manchester Evening News, found out the hard way after an outing with four children she was caring for at a Manchester shopping centre.
At mealtime, she took the children to eat at Slim Chickens. But what was his surprise to find himself with an addition of… 64 pounds sterling, or more than 75 euros. Too expensive, for a “fast food” for four teenagers, according to her.
What does she blame the brand for? Not having offered to take “menus” which could have made him pay nearly 15 euros. “I haven’t seen this option […] It would be nice if it was automated as soon as you take a dish, a side dish and a drink,” she explains.
“All parents know how difficult it is to make multiple orders, and you don’t always have the opportunity to see the best options,” she adds.
Contacted, a Slim Chickens spokesperson confirms that Emma would have paid less if she had opted for menus. “But we are not a fast food restaurant,” he assures. “Slim Chickens has won the Multi Site Quick Service Restaurant Of The Year Award 2022 in the UK and everyone is convinced of the good quality of our brand”.
