In Porzou, dogs annoy on the beaches and cyclists on the coastal path

In Porzou, some residents are “not happy”. But really not. Object of their wrath? The presence of dogs on Porzou beach and cyclists on the coastal path. “People have been complaining for years, but it is now getting worse and worse”, storms Sylviane Mafart, as the originator of a petition which has gathered around forty signatures.

In a letter delivered to the town hall a fortnight ago, the protesters remind that a prefectural decree of January 19, 2018 prohibits “the presence of dogs on the beaches of Finistère from June 1 to September 30 inclusive of each year”. However, local residents regret that this decree is currently not displayed in that location. “It is an old municipal decree, which is on the big sign planted above the beach, where the ban is drowned in a flood of information”, confirm the signatories of the petition. A “negligence” several times reported to municipal services, but today remained unanswered. In fact, the residents are asking the city hall “to seal a metal prohibition sign – an old wooden sign that has been vandalized – at the top of the access hill, to update the display and to enforce the rules.”

Cyclists in the sights

As for cyclists, local residents lament that, despite the ban, they “usually take the coastal path at Porzou and swipe at pedestrians”. Here too, the district’s residents believe that the municipality has “its share of the responsibility in these offences”. The latter particularly highlights the absence of clear signage or facilities to discourage two-wheelers from engaging.

Example of the Porz Gwir path, where “nothing indicates to cyclists coming from the Moulin d’Aurore campsite, very close, that the path is forbidden to them”. The icing on the cake, at the entrance to the Porzou Park, located at one end of the motorhome site, near the toilets, there is indeed a harassment and a prohibition sign, but a hundred meters further down, above the beach, a Bike Park kindly awaits cyclists and gives credence to the idea that “there is a tolerance”! “, complete the residents in question.

By this letter, the signatories “await an answer”, as well as “the implementation of the necessary work, which does not require”, according to them, “a large budget, but responsiveness and respect for citizens”.
