In Villeneuve-d’Ascq, the Pizza Paï restaurant closes at V2, only the take-out sale continues

It is a historic sign in the Villeneuve-d’Ascq shopping center which is closing its doors. A small sign at the entrance warns customers: “After many years of service and smiles, Pizza Paï V2 will definitely close its doors on Friday August 12 after the evening service”.

After Burger King in June, a new restaurant chain is closing in the V2 shopping centre, and not least: on the first floor, it occupied a large area and had been there almost since the opening of the gallery. On site, the director of the Pizza Paï restaurant cannot speak. He just confirms that the take-out space remains open, and will even be refurbished to allow customers to eat quickly on site

Contacted to find out the reasons for this closure, the number of employees concerned and their future, the management of Pizza Paï did not respond to our request. According to our information, about thirty employees work in this restaurant. Many when the closure was announced wanted to leave, others were reclassified. Only seven employees would remain to operate the take-out kiosk after Friday.

As for knowing what will become of most of this large unoccupied cell, mystery too. The management of V2 does not wish to communicate on this closure and refers to the sign.

A short note thanks customers and warns them of the closing, which will take place this Friday, August 12 after the evening service.

Pizza Paï, a brand created in 1979, is part of Agapes restauration, which belongs to the Mulliez group. Agapes includes, among others, the brands Il Ristorante, So good, Salad & Co, Trois Brasseurs, Flunch and Amarine. The latter brands have experienced reorganization and restaurant closures as well. Flunch’s PES had resulted in the closure of 49 restaurants last year. That of V2 had escaped the storm.

This time, Pizza Paï’s choice fell on the closure of the Villeneuvois site. The Englos restaurant had not reopened after confinement in June 2020. The Faches-Thumesnil restaurant continues its activity. In its latest 2021 CSR report, the Agapes group pointed to two contextual elements, the difficulty in recruiting and inflation which, after the Covid crisis, do not facilitate the catering environment.
