How much does an executive working in the insurance industry make?
In 2022, the average annual gross compensation (fixed + variable) for managers in the commercial professions in insurance is 54,000 euros, according to the APEC study. This is more than the median salary for managers, all trades combined, which is 51,000 euros. 80% of insurance executives earn between €44,000 and €72,000 annually.
79% of directors in the insurance industry have variable compensation (compared to 55% for all directors), and the median amount is €7,500.

Insurance sales managers work as a general insurance agent, insurance salesperson, insurance customer advisor, or insurance broker.
Methodology: APEC data covers annual gross compensation (fixed + variable) by age, line management, budget management, geographic location, company size and industry. A median compensation is presented (half of the managers earn less, the other half of the managers earn more) as well as a range (the compensation renamed to the “minimum” of challenges corresponding to the 1st decile and the compensation renamed to the “maximum” of challenges corresponding to 9 .decile: 80% of business managers earn an amount between the 1st decile and the 9th decile).
