A cat who had been trying to “get himself saved” for almost six months finally got his wish this winter.

A white cat had reportedly been hanging around the neighborhood for almost half a year. He followed passers-by around and even waited outside the entrance of a building.
When Little Wanderers NYC (an animal rescue) received a request to help the strays, they sprung into action. “When I saw that the cat had been in a fight and had a wound, I rushed over with a can of sardines,” said a volunteer rescuer.
“When I arrived he was meowing and following people around, clearly desperate for food and help.”

Driven by hunger, the cat went straight into the humane trap and swallowed the can of food. When the door closed, he didn’t even flinch as if he had been waiting for this moment.
“I’m relieved he’s safe now and getting the chance he deserves.”

They lovingly named the cat Winter and took him to the vet to receive the emergency treatment he needed.
The veterinary team treated him for a fracture and multiple bite wounds on his left front leg. With plenty of rest, nutritious food, and lots of TLC, Winter was finally being prayed over and ready to move into a nursing home.

After seeking shelter for so long, he was now safe from cold and hunger. Although he was scared and reserved at first, he became more confident with each passing day.
“He is doing very well in the foster family and is learning to be an indoor cat. He is getting around.”

Winter spent several weeks resting and recovering from his wounds, truly settling into the comfortable indoor life. He eagerly awaited mealtime and loved his cozy cat bed, where he found comfort and peace.
Once his leg was fully healed, his beautiful personality began to blossom.

With the help of cat treats, Winter has learned to enjoy love from humans. “He is so brave and adapting to the good life.”
“Mostly he’s been a sleepy boy catching up on rest. He’s very talkative and seeks affection, but only exactly the way he likes it – mostly by rubbing against your legs and getting his pet on his back .”

“He’s still skittish about sudden movements, but he’s already made so much progress.”
Winter has started playing with toys and goes wild for catnip. He enjoys taking beauty naps in his trusty bed all day, stretching his arms wide without a care in the world.
