A cat went from lying in the bushes to having the time of her life and doing everything she couldn’t before.

On a rare Saturday off work, AP Miller was walking home when she saw a cat crying in the bushes. “Normally if I made eye contact with a cat outside, they would run away, but this one kept crying,” AP told Love Meow.
The cat moved in an unusual way as AP slowly approached her. “I knew something was wrong. I called a friend who told me to just call animal control, but I knew this cat needed help.”
She carefully scooped up the cat and placed her in a box she had gotten from a nearby store.

She then rushed the cat to the emergency vet where they discovered the cat was not microchipped and needed more care than expected.
Around 3-5 years old, the calico was emaciated, weighing only four pounds and unable to walk. “We found this was from a fracture on both sides of her pelvis. She had a cut on her nose that was filled with debris.”

“I spent the whole night at the emergency vet waiting to see if she had a chance.”
At first they were unsure if the cat would survive, but she showed her strong will to live. With plenty of rest and good food, she made great progress and soon began to use her legs to walk. “There is definitely something special about this sweet girl.”

“She was determined to live from the moment I met her – she was brave enough to ask for help from any passerby. I named her Pickle because she was really ‘in a pickle’ when I found her.”
When Pickle needed care beyond what AP could provide, a neighbor connected her to Tails High, a volunteer-based cat rescue. They promptly offered their support, believing that Pickle deserved the best chance.

“She fought hard to recover, even though she often fought against the bank rest that healed her.”
Within months, Pickle transformed from stumbling with every step to running with renewed vigor. Her playful nature began to shine and she blossomed into a loving hug bug.

“She was immediately very cute and mischievous as she could be, knocking over plants and digging in their soil. My best friend and I joke that she’s a chaos gremlin because she loves to do wild things like jump on discs, doing catnip zoomies and literally climbing walls.”
After all the bad, Pickle enjoys snuggling with AP and melting into her arms.

Pickle may be a little shy around new people, but she loves the company of her cat and dog friends. “She quickly became friends with my former resident dog and care fail Croissant (the cat).”
Pickle is feeling like herself again and loves rolling around, showing off her now full belly, eating her favorite treats and chasing toys.

The moment Pickle was able to use the litter box on her own, AP cheered with joy. It was then that she realized she could never part with Pickle. “I wanted to be there for her every step of the way.”
During that time, Pickle and Croissant became close friends, bringing endless laughter and happiness to the family.

The once emaciated cat now proudly sports a round belly, perfectly matched by her larger than life personality.
AP took a chance on the calico when she needed it most, and now Pickle is thriving in her forever home with a clean bill of health, boundless energy and so much love to give.
