Kevin, the new tallest dog in the world, is almost one meter tall

Kevin, a 3-year-old Great Dane, is the tallest dog in the world, measuring 0.97 meters tall. His owners call him the “gentle giant”.

A four-legged companion that takes up space. Guinness World Records announced on June 13 that it had officially registered Kevin as the largest living dog in the world. The Great Dane measures 0.97 meters in height, about the size of a 3-year-old child, compared to 0.76 meters on average for a dog of this breed.

At the age of 3, the dog lives with his owners, Tracy and Roger Wolfe, in the city of Des Moines in the state of Iowa in the United States.

“The fact that Kevin is officially the biggest dog in the world is very exciting for our family,” his owner told Guinness. “It’s funny because when he was little we always said to each other, ‘he never stops growing,'” she laughs.

Between 1.5 and 2.5 kg of food per day

Kevin has many playmates, as in addition to him, the couple has three other dogs, but also four cats, to which are added goats, chickens and several horses.

“Kevin is the epitome of the gentle giant,” Tracy Wolfe assures Guinness World Records, calling him her “big baby.”

“He’s afraid of almost everything,” she smiles. “He’s afraid of vacuum cleaners. He won’t let them within two meters of him!”

Gifted with a large appetite, Kevin eats between 1.5 kg and 2.5 kg of food per day. Because of his large size, the Wolfe family says Kevin attracts the attention of many passersby when they walk him around. According to them, it even happens that their dog is mistaken for a horse.

“Didn’t realize its size”

Tracy Wolfe is a veterinarian by profession and is able to take care of the animal without difficulty despite its size. “When Kevin, or one of my dogs, comes to my office, I place a baby gate near my office door. That way, I can leave my door open but the dogs stay inside. interior,” she said .

Except that with Kevin the situation is a little different. “If I leave, he climbs over the fence as if nothing happened,” laughs his mistress.

“I don’t think he realizes his size. He keeps trying to crawl into the little beds, sit on us and do everything smaller dogs do,” she says.

Before Kevin, the former biggest Dane in the world was called Zeus. He died in 2023 at the age of 3.
