A kitten followed other cats to a home for food, and soon his life changed.

An orange kitten was seen near a home looking for food. It appeared that he had been following local cats to their food source.
Lean, sick and hungry, he wolfed down his food as if he hadn’t eaten in days. Unsure where his next meal would come from, the lone kitten decided to stay, hoping for another chance to eat.
A concerned resident turned to the online community for help. Several animal rescuers jump into action after seeing the post.

Isabelle, Linda and Guylaine teamed up to secure the kitten. One of them transported him on a two-hour car ride to Montreal, where volunteers at Chatons Orphelins Montreal awaited his arrival.
“We took him into our care and named him Safran. He was very thin and you could feel every bone under his fur,” said Celine of Chatons Orphelins Montreal.

A foster family stepped in and offered Safran a safe and comfortable place to start her healing journey.
He was treated for an eye infection, fever and stomach ailments. Despite it all, he continued to eat heartily, determined to get stronger. After a few days of nutritious meals and TLC, he began to fill up and regain strength.

Saffron quickly settled into her new life as a spoiled indoor cat who craves affection and love. He melted into a pool of purrs every time he was wrapped in a soft blanket.
“He is gentle and purrs the moment you touch him, but is still easily startled by sudden movement or noise.”

After lots of cuddle sessions and reassurance, Safran became more confident and comfortable in the house.
He enjoys relaxing on the sofa with his human and feline friends and sitting next to them as the perfect companion. “He’s gentle and calm. He loves cuddles and is a purr machine. He rolls on his back and nudges you for attention, and when he’s in your arms he purrs and falls asleep.”

Safran has fully recovered and is loving her newfound energy. He has put other cats in the house and quickly became friends with them all. He is often seen after them, participating in their adventures or napping by their side.
After weeks in foster care, he has blossomed into a fluffy “lion” cat with a sweet, charming personality.

“He loves it when you take the time to play and cuddle with him every day. His favorite resting place is a sunny perch on the cat tree. He has a big appetite, always finishes his plate and even sneaks bites from other cats’ bowls. .”
He loves his feline friends, follows them eagerly and imitates their every move. He thrives in their company and craves their love.

Safran has come out of his shell since arriving, but can be a bit shy at times. He crouches down if approached too quickly, but as soon as he’s nuzzled, he turns into a purring, purring love bug.
“He has discovered his own voice by imitating other cats in the house. Now he meows when he is hungry or looking for his feline friends.”

“Safran was lucky to have been rescued from the streets when he was a lonely kitten.”
Now he basks in the sunlight through the window, snuggled up in his toy-filled bed and plays and wrestles until he falls asleep.
