One kitten was clamoring for affection and wouldn’t take no for an answer once she was indoors, away from the highway.

About a month ago, Andrea Christian, an animal rescuer, received a call from a police officer about a kitten found on a highway.
“The officer was traveling northbound on I-75 when she saw a small sedated kitten on the side of the road,” Andrea said. She saw the pictures of the fluffy kitten and her injuries and immediately offered her help.
When the kitten needed additional care, Andrea quickly took her in. The doll-like kitten with pleading eyes hungered for affection.

The kitten had multiple wounds on its chin, chest and paws and was missing spots due to ringworm. Andrea began to treat her and was surprised at how calm she was, as if the kitten understood that she was being helped.
A few days later, she was on the mend and her energy level increased.

The little bundle of fur did not like to be alone and eagerly sought attention from people. The moment Andrea walked in, she tried to jump over her pen with affection and refused to take no for an answer.
“This girl is always on a mission to get somewhere. Most likely the reason she was found on the side of the highway.”

Andrea set up a large playpen to give the kitten more space to run around and toys to fight with, but all she wanted were pets and cuddles. She took her daily treatment in stride, unfazed by it all.
Despite all she had endured, she remained in good spirits and just wanted to be loved.

The kitten woke up at the sound of Andrea’s voice and followed it until she was scooped up. When Andrea knew she needed a constant companion, she found the perfect nursing home for her.
Nadija, a care volunteer, was already caring for two kittens with ringworm when she heard about another who needed a friend. She jumped in to help.

Shortly after arriving, the fluffy kitten hopped into a cat tree and explored the room as if she owned it. She was mesmerized by Nadija as she spoke to her, her big adorable eyes fixed on her.
“Nothing holds this girl back and she is full of personality and has lots of love to give,” shared Nadija.

The kitten had surgery to repair her chin and came home with a small button on her lip, hence her name, Buttons. “The orange piece is to keep the sutures from sinking into the skin. She’s cute as a button.”
In no time, Buttons was zipping around her room, climbing anything she could get her paws on.

Buttons has met his new feline friends, who are also being treated for ringworm. They have taken her under their wing and she is happy to have playmates to keep her company.
Sensing that Buttons needs extra TLC, the brown and white tabby is unusually gentle and sweet about her.

After a few weeks of care and nurturing, Buttons healed beautifully. Her wounds have disappeared and her fur is growing back. The button has been removed from her chin and she has blossomed into the cutest little button of a kitten.
“She is the sweetest little lady, so playful, very chatty and so cuddly.”
