Live – “Widespread looting and smuggling” prevent aid distribution in Gaza Strip

UNRWA says “widespread looting and smuggling” is preventing aid distribution in the Gaza Strip

“The breakdown of civil order gives rise to widespread looting and smuggling, which hampers the delivery of humanitarian aid that the population desperately needs,” warns Swiss Philippe Lazzarini during a meeting in Geneva.

According to the head of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, “over the past nine months we have witnessed an unprecedented failure of humanity in an area marked by decades of violence.”

“The Palestinians and the Israelis suffered terrible losses and suffered enormously. Gaza was decimated. For more than two million Gazans it is hell. A nightmare from which they cannot wake up,” insists Philippe Lazzarini.

Hamas’ health ministry announces a new death toll of 37,626

At least 28 people have been killed in the past 24 hours. Hamas’ health ministry announced on Monday a new death toll of 37,626 in the Gaza Strip since the start of the war. 86,098 people have been injured in the Palestinian Territory since 7 October.

According to Benjamin Netanyahu, the “intense” phase of the war is coming to an end

The Israeli prime minister said on Sunday that the “intense” phase of the fighting was “coming to an end”, particularly in Rafah. But the war continues. Bombings are still targeting the Gaza Strip this Monday.

Hamas responds that any deal must “include a permanent ceasefire and a complete withdrawal” from Gaza. Israel has always rejected these conditions.

Under very strong pressure from public opinion, Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated that the “goal” was “to recover the hostages” and “uproot the Hamas regime”, in an interview with the Israeli channel Channel 14.

Israel’s Minister of Defense in the United States

As relations between Benjamin Netanyahu and the White House experience a new episode of tension, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant traveled to Washington to, according to him, “to discuss developments in Gaza and Lebanon.”

Referring to relations with Washington, he assured in a press release that “relations with the United States are more important than ever”. “Our talks with US officials are essential to (the continuation of) the war,” he said.
