Louisiana judge blocks abortion ban

While Supreme Court on Friday canceled the shutdown “Roe v. wade“, which guarantees voluntary termination of pregnancy (Abortion) for American women, the United States is tearing itself apart, since each state can now legislate as he pleases.

Several immediately rushed to declare the abortions illegal on their territory, relying in particular on laws remained dormant so far. But in other states, complaints have been filed in state courts, rather than federal courts.

Thus, in Louisiana, a clinic and medical students attacked the three laws banning abortions, declaring them too “vague” since they do not clearly specify the exceptions or associated penalties. The judge Robin Giarrusso therefore blocked these laws on Monday until a hearing on July 8.

the Center for Reproductive Rightswho represents the plaintiffs, immediately tweeted that “Abortions can resume in Louisiana“. “Every day that a clinic is open can make a difference in someone’s life,” added its president. A victory that could only be short-lived, since Louisiana Attorney GeneralJeff Landry, promised ‘to do everything in (his) power to ensure laws protecting unborn children come into effect“.
