The dog meat trade is still raging in Vietnam. A man who had his 3 dogs stolen by canine traffickers set off in pursuit. He found only one of his doggies, but saved 31 others, today in search of their owners.
Minh Khoi Do lives in the southern seaside resort of Nha Trang, south of Vietnam. In early July 2022, the 46-year-old had his 3 dogs stolen from his home. Well aware of the fate reserved for them, Minh Khoi Do conducted his investigation to rescue them.
On Saturday July 23, he broke into a clandestine slaughterhouse in the district of Dien Khanh.
31 terrified doggies were crammed into tiny cages waiting to be killed for their meat.
Minh Khoi Do bought them from merchants for the modest sum of 1,000 euros. He couldn’t bring himself to let them do such an atrocity.
Find their owners
The Good Samaritan brought the canines back to his home, although it was too small to accommodate so many refugees. There were specimens of different ages, including unweaned puppies with their mothers.
He took pictures of them and then posted them on Facebook in the hope that some people who also lost their faithful 4-legged friends would recognize them.
To his delight, Minh Khoi Do has, thanks to his heroic act, found one of his dogs. However, 2 are still missing.
The story of the doggies moved the community. Minh Khoi Do received donations of dog food and accessories. In addition, many people have offered to adopt survivors.
“If I can’t find the previous owners, I’ll take them to an animal shelter”the rescuer told New Straits Times. He fears that the canines will be collected for the sole purpose of being resold to canine butchers.
Fortunately, 2 families were thus able to find their recently dognapped hairballs.

“My family and I can only express our gratitude”confided the relieved and happy master of this unexpected reunion. Minh Khoi Do refuses any financial consideration. His only reward is to see these dogs come out of this hell and find their home.
