He went to the table while in police custody. The 34-year-old man arrested by police officers from the Melun Val de Seine urban police station admitted to being the one who looted the cars of customers at the “L’Usine” restaurant in Melun. The investigators of the property crime group of the Urban Security impute to him no less than 24 thefts from the trailer, mainly committed on the side of the Nangis road. He is also accused of stealing a car, that of his former friend.
It is precisely for this last fact that everything began for the police. Last April, a woman came to file a complaint against her ex-companion. The latter, who would be homeless, allegedly stole his Renault Scenic. A few days later, the municipal police of Melun saw the vehicle in question with a man behind the wheel. Alerted, public road personnel intervene to carry out the check. This turns out to be hectic and in the confusion, the driver manages to run away.
In the vehicle, the police find an iPad that had just been stolen from the car of a customer at the Usine restaurant. Investigators from the property crime group quickly make the connection with a series of trailer thefts committed in this sector of Melun since the beginning of 2021. Aided by the technical and scientific police, they manage to confuse their suspect thanks to DNA , but also to his footprints left in the Renault Scenic.

If the boy is identified, he is not yet housed. It will be necessary to wait until last week so that he is finally spotted in an accommodation in Dammarie-les-Lys where he had discreetly settled. Last Thursday, the police of the anti-crime brigade took action and arrested the suspect, already known for various crimes.
When questioned, the 30-year-old admitted that he had broken the windows of 24 cars in order to steal sunglasses, cell phones and other tablets left inside by restaurant customers who took the time to eat. In the end, he will be tried on October 27 at the Melun Criminal Court as part of the guilty plea.
