One year after the fire, the starred restaurant L’Auberge du Pont reopens in Pont-du-Château (Puy-de-Dôme)

A year after the fire that ravaged its premises, the Michelin-starred restaurant Auberge du Pont, in Pont-du-Château (Puy-de-Dôme), reopens its doors this Friday, July 22. The reservation book filled up in a few hours, following the post published on Tuesday July 19, on social networks, announcing the resumption of activity.

No more than 20 covers per service, “to start”: “We all need to get back to work in good conditions, after this long period of closure and the two years of Covid”, explains the chef, Rodophe Regnauld.

premium A star awarded in the Michelin Guide

A year ago, on June 19, 2021, the restaurant which had won its first star in the Michelin Guide in March and had just been renovated, went up in smoke. A shock and a heartbreak for Rodolphe and Christelle Regnauld.

“We didn’t have time to get tired of our decor, because it was brand new. The idea was to redo everything keeping the spirit, but bringing some new things. »

The kitchen has been reconfigured. Walls have fallen, openings have been created. If the piano is the same, it is part of a more spacious set, with a modern design in which black marble and stainless steel dominate.

How about subscribing to the free Tour de tables de La Montagne newsletter?

On the restaurant side, the two large rooms, including the bright veranda overlooking the Allier, have a new decoration that we will not reveal: “I really want our customers to discover it live, smiles Christelle. I invested myself a lot in it, it helped me to project myself after the fire”.

Never far from the stove

For a year, the chef has never stayed far from the stove. Rodolphe Regnauld has invested in consulting missions, has multiplied experiences in France and abroad in events, has cooked with colleagues and friends, at Marcon in particular. In its role as sponsor, it accompanied the Tour de tables newsletter of The mountain.

He has also been very present with local producers with whom he has worked for many years. The very people he wishes to honor this summer, when he returns to the kitchens of the Auberge du Pont, at the head of a partly renewed team.

A map between Auvergne and Brittany

The chef’s cuisine has been awarded a star in the Michelin Guide since March 2021.
The menu developed for the reopening of the restaurant is greatly dedicated to them. “It was important for us to continue to make them work during the confinements. We really wanted to find them afterwards, because they are essential, underlines the chef. Without them, no gourmet restaurant would hold. »

The lucky ones who will have their napkin ring this evening at the Auberge du Pont will be the first to discover and taste the summer menu. We can tell you that it celebrates Auvergne and Brittany, the two regions dear to the heart of the chef. “A bit from here, a bit from elsewhere,” he smiles.
