The day after a spectacular opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games, it’s time for sport this Saturday 27 July. Seven Breton athletes will be on the field. And already two medals to go after.

But this Saturday, July 27, the athletes must return to the ground very quickly. Especially the seven Bretons involved.

  • Thom Gicquel : Zheng/Huang (CHI, N.1) – Gicquel/Delrue (not before 15:40)

Bettonais’ Thom Gicquel lines up in mixed doubles with Delphine Delrue. The French pair, reigning European champions, can aim for a podium.

Born in Tours in 1999, Thom Gicquel started playing badminton as a 6-year-old in the Rennes metropolis at his parents’ club in Betton.

  • Nicolas Gestin : C1 playoffs (15.00 and 17.10)
  • Camille Prigent : K1 play-offs (16.00 and 18.10)

Quimper Nicolas Gestin, 24, world runner-up, is aiming for a medal in the discipline where Tony Estanguet, the big boss of the 2024 Olympics, excelled with three Olympic titles (2000, 2004, 2012).

I have a chance for medals like everyone else, I’m just happy to take over from Tony Estanguet and Denis Gargaud. If I can make young people dream like they made me dream when I was a kid, that would be great.

Nicolas Gestin, vice world champion in canoeing

Camille Prigent was born in Rennes 26 years ago and will also be keen to win a medal in kayaking.

  • Audrey Cordon-Ragot: time trial (14:30)

We no longer present Audey Cordon-Ragot, multiple French champion. The native of Pontivy will try to win his first Olympic medal at the age of 34.

  • Désiré Doué: France – Guinea (21.00)
