Rescuer gets a stray kitten off the street and returns for another cat, her sister, cut from the same cloth

A kind rescuer helped get a stray kitten off the street and returned for another cat, her sister, cut from the same cloth.

Late last month, Beth, an animal rescuer, was contacted about two kittens, about 3-4 months old, living under a homeowner’s porch. Both young and kind, Beth was determined to give them the good life they deserved.

When she arrived, she noticed that one of the kittens, Hazel, had an infected eye and needed immediate attention. She brought her home to begin treatment while the homeowner continued to care for the other kitten, Sally.

“She thought she could come back for Sally once she got help for Hazel,” Stephanie Grantham, president of Sparkle Cat Rescue, told Love Meow.

With the support of the community, Beth was able to secure the eye surgery for Hazel. “One of her eyes was in really bad shape and after two weeks of medication and no improvement, it was removed.”

After surviving outdoors for months, Hazel seemed relieved and content to be in a comfortable home. She snuggled into her rescuer’s arms as if she knew she was finally in good hands.

A volunteer at Sparkle Cat Rescue took her in to help her heal from surgery. She quickly woke up and regained her playful energy. Before long, Hazel was climbing cat trees and running around claiming every inch she touched.

With renewed confidence, her personality began to shine through. “She slept with her nanny (carer) the first night and loved it.”

When Beth returned to check on Hazel’s sister, Sally, the long-haired, thinning calico strolled up and begged for attention. She was an instant hug bug and wanted nothing more than to be held and loved.

As Hazel was healing beautifully in foster care, Beth asked Stephanie if they had room for another kitten.

“I told her to bring her to me so we could reunite her and Hazel.”

Sally arrived in good spirits, rubbing her face lovingly against everything around her. With her spinners rumbling, she explored her new space, greeting everyone she met. “This girl wants lots of attention.”

As Stephanie tried to work on her computer, Sally jumped up on the desk, eager to help. She put a paw on her shoulder and rubbed her face against the arm that controlled the mouse.

Needless to say, Stephanie didn’t get much work done that day, but she was glad to know that Sally was finally safe.

With both kittens safely indoors, it was time for their reunion.

A family stepped in to care for the kittens and reunite them. It wasn’t long before they fell head over heels for the pair. “Both girls went to a new foster home (will potentially be adopted by the foster family) this week and are doing well.”

As she relaxed on the large bed that Hazel had claimed, she saw her sister and was intrigued.

Within two days, the two were playing, chasing each other around the house, and soon they were curled up on the same bed like two peas in a pod.

“They are both very loving and social, love to play with their toys and cuddle with people. Their lives are forever changed now.”

With the help of rescuers and volunteers, the sisters have been reunited and are now starting a new chapter filled with food, love and each other.
