Rain, gray and gloomy weather. This Saturday 1er October, the sky was really not at the party for the Festival of animals, organized by the SPA of Lyon, manager of the Indian refuge of Dompierre-sur-Veyle. The heavy rains in the morning led to the cancellation of the activities scheduled for the afternoon. Not enough to dampen the enthusiasm of the members of the association, nor of the referent of the refuge, Camille Goarin. “We are obviously a little disappointed, but that’s how we deal with it. The main thing is that people come to us. This holiday is an opportunity to adopt an animal or make a donation. It is also for us the way to make ourselves known. »
From this point of view, the first of the two days of the event was rather a success. Balto, 2, Bobby and Izidor, 8, and Thalie, 9, crossbred hunting dogs, received many visitors throughout the afternoon. This should be the case again this Sunday, during the 2nd part of the festivities.
On the program: demonstrations of herding dogs and introduction to canicross. Under construction since the beginning of the year, the refuge is operating in slow motion. “We have 14 boxes under repair out of 15. By the end of the year, the dogs will be welcomed in much more comfortable conditions than before. The boxes will be equipped with underfloor heating. »
Enough to spend the winter warm after a summer once again marked by many abandonments. “It’s like that every summer. Fortunately, at the same time, there have been many adoptions. Since January, a hundred cats and dogs have found a new master at the Dompierre-sur-Veyle shelter.
Animal festival at the Dompierre-sur-Veyle SPA refuge, this Sunday, October 2, from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
