The NielsenIQ panelist, analyzed between May 23 and June 19, an overall rate of ruptures of 5.5%, all products combined. These stockouts are up 1.2 points compared to the same period last year. François Laffontan, consultant at NielsenIQ explains: “ over a full year a gross shortfall of 3.8 billion euros in hypermarkets and supermarkets “. The causes of these shortages which lead to linear ruptures are numerous: “ Climatic conditions, poor harvests, the Ukraine-Russia conflict and other production difficulties have significantly accelerated the shortages of certain products since the beginning of the year, and have undermined shelf availability in 2022 “. The product most affected so far is mustard. According to panelist NielsenIQ, it’s the food most affected by lack of availability between June 20 and 26, 2022. On the other hand, these stock shortages give pride of place to certain other foodstuffs such as surimi, milk for infant food or port.
