Soon after they bring the cat into their home, she has kittens in a room, ready for new beginnings

Soon after they brought a pregnant cat into their home, she had kittens in a room, ready for a new beginning.

About four weeks ago, a pregnant cat arrived at Best Friends Felines in need of a fresh start. She quickly warmed to everyone and showed how grateful she was for the care she received.

“We have named her Brielle. She is the sweetest little lady with beautiful blue eyes, amazing cream color and a lovely loud purr,” said Best Friends Felines.

Overjoyed to be in a foster home, Brielle snuggled up to her people and soaked up all the love. “She loves pats and hugs, rolling on her back for belly rubs.”

Feeling secure in her new room, Brielle began to prepare for what was to come. “She decided enough was enough and very quietly went into labor in the corner of her room. A few hours later, five beautiful kittens were washed and cared for by their graceful mother, who took it all in stride.”

This is likely Brielle’s first litter and it will be her last. Soon she will enjoy being a cat again and doing what she loves after raising her kittens.

“We have two creams as a mother, a little gray baby and two striped tabbies.” In two weeks they had almost tripled in weight.

“(They) all jostle for the best position on mom’s milk bar and then go into a milk coma until the next feeding. They start wiggling around out of their area and keep Brielle very busy trying to put them all back together.”

With their eyes open, the kittens became more curious and active, although they were still finding their footing. Brielle loved her kitties, but also required human affection. “She takes great pride in showing off her babies to all the visitors we have in her room.”

She started taking more breaks from her kittens, snuggling next to her foster mom, but always staying within reach if her babies needed her.

By the time they were three weeks old, the kittens were growing by leaps and bounds and gaining the confidence to venture outside their nest. They discovered their voices and were not shy about using them.

They were taken from their mother. Every time they weighed themselves, even for a few seconds, they cried until they were quickly back by her side.

They playfully wrestled with each other, rolling around and waving their little limbs in the air. As they learned to groom themselves and their siblings, their individual personalities began to shine.

“Tank (larger tabby) is the loudest and most pushy. Wombat and Stormy (the two white babies) are the gentlest and Lizzie (grey) and Zoe (smaller tabby) are just happy to eat, sleep and cuddle on my lap , when Brielle lets them.”

“Brielle continues to be the most amazing mother, gobbling down copious amounts of food before rushing back to feed, groom and fuss over her brood.”

“When she gives herself some time away from her children, she starts to show her playful side and loves to chase the wand and curled feathers around the room. It’s great to see as she’s only so young herself.”

The kittens thrive and Tank leads all their adventures. “He’s started playing in the litter boxes. Brielle has had to come and give him a push on occasion (to help him climb out).”

“Brielle is getting more time to herself, continues to develop her playful side and will now happily sit with me and cuddle and play while her babies explore their new world.”

“She is the most beautiful cat – in looks and nature – and when the time comes that she is ready for adoption, she will make the most amazing fur baby for a lucky family.”
