The Spurs and Lakers will try to improve the quality of their lists during the summer, although San Antonio has better upside in the market. And they could use it to steal a player from the Angelinos.
We expect movement this summer for many NBA franchises, always with a fairly simple desire on paper: to improve the quality of their teams. This will be the case for the Spurs, who logically want to offer some help to Victor Wembanyama after a magnificent rookie season. But San Antonio also doesn’t want to recruit stars and ruin this whole process.
Spurs goal already revealed?
The organization should therefore target certain names, especially to improve this leadership position that has been talked about so much throughout this campaign. And according to Jake Weinbach, we’ll definitely have to watch the Lakers with D’Angelo Russell’s likely departure. The latter is leaving Los Angeles, and Spurs, according to the journalist, are not far away.
While a return to the Lakers remains a viable option, the Orlando Magic and San Antonio Spurs are notable teams to watch should the 28-year-old playmaker leave LA. Russell’s decision-making will have a significant impact on the Lakers’ direction this offseason.

Jake Weinbach : “D’Angelo Russell is expected to decline his $18.6 million player option and become an unrestricted free agent this offseason. The Lakers guard will be in the market looking for a long-term contract, a lucrative deal after averaging 18 points, 6.3 assists on 41.5% from three-point range this year. »

Regardless of whether he decides to leave, the best case scenario for the Lakers regarding Russell would be for them to accept his option just to get him out in a trade. If the manager is content to sign with Spurs, for example, clearly interested, then the Purple and Gold will have nothing. But despite a disappointing season, DLo should get some market interest.
D’Angelo Russell is one of the Spurs’ targets to strengthen the lead and make it easier to find Victor Wembanyama on the floor. But this series could well give us some surprises.
