They took in a stray cat and her seven kittens. The next day the cat showed them gratitude in the most touching way.

While caring for local cats and working to bring them to safety, a family discovered a stray cat with her seven newborn kittens.

Knowing they needed a safe place, the family contacted their local animal rescue, Homeward Bound Cat Adoptions. Ellen Richter, a care volunteer, responded immediately and went to retrieve the cat family.

She carefully loaded the mother cat and her babies into her car and started their new journey to a foster home.

The mother was understandably nervous during the car ride. She meowed anxiously, her wary eyes darting around.

Ellen prepared a cozy room for the cat and her kittens and layered it with soft blankets for extra comfort. Although shy at first, the cat did not try to hide and stayed close to her kittens, who were fast asleep in a puddle.

Ellen noticed that when she spoke softly to the cat, Peach Poptart, her face relaxed as if soothed by the sound of her voice. She kept talking until Peach felt comfortable enough to lay on her side and offer her belly for her kittens to nurse.

That night, Peach slept with a full stomach, her precious seven nestled against her, basking in warmth and comfort.

“Mother is very comfortable, relaxed and calm. She has two thinned torties, two calicos, a tortoise shell, an orange baby and an orange and white.”

The worries in her eyes melted away, replaced by a calm, contented look.

Peach washes her kittens with unconditional love. “They are all plump and healthy.”

Raising a litter of seven is no small feat, so Ellen has been supplementing to give Peach some well-deserved rest. Every time she steps into the room, she is greeted by Peach’s booming purr as Mom blissfully kneads her blanket.

The first day, Peach wouldn’t leave her kittens, not even to eat, so Ellen brought her the food. With a comfortable nest and food in bed all day, Peach grew fond of her foster mother and began to greet her with adorable meows.

By the time Ellen sat down, she had come over, nuzzled her hand, and fell on his arm.

As the kittens snoozed in a cozy pile, Peach rested her head on Ellen’s hand and her loud purr filled the room.

After roaming the streets for most of her life, she is so grateful for a roof over her head, nutritious meals and the love of a caring human being. In a few days, Peach has blossomed into a real snuggle bug.

She loves to lean into her foster mother and use her hand as a pillow as she kneads the blanket next to her. She often looks up to Ellen and her eyes are filled with love as she makes biscuits.

Even though she’s already a mom, Peach is still a baby at heart and can’t wait to frolic like a kitten again when she’s done raising her last litter.

As the kittens grow bigger and stronger, their curious, playful sides will emerge. They have a doting mother who takes care of their every need and a loving family who ensures that their future is bright.

“Most of the kittens have their eyes open. They grow so fast.”
