In Carnac (Morbihan) that is emblematic companiesof which the glacier is a part, The igloo. This year it is nothing less than 130 flavors which Alan Girard, co-manager, will offer his customers. Here, you won’t see anything surprising in ordering an ice cream, three scoops, sweet potato, matcha green tea and lavender.
Homemade for old fashioned recipes
The process is simple: one idea, one test.
Our ice cream is made from raw milk from a farm in Carnac, which we pasteurize ourselves. These are old-fashioned recipes with fresh egg yolks, sugar and good milk. We then make and test our recipes ourselves in our laboratory in Trinité-sur-mer.
For banana flambé flavor with curry, it all starts in an oven where Alan cooks fry your fruit before you do flambéed dark rum in a pot and add everything to its preparation, sugar, egg yolk, stabilizer and milk.
When the preparation is done, Alan leaves mature between 24 and 48 hours before you send everything to freezer, the ice machine, as he calls it.
From originality to good taste
Whereas 2000 the brand held world record (Guinness Book of Records) taste along 171 flavorsthe new managers Alan and Nina, the owner’s children, have decided to reduce the offer to offer a best quality to the customers. “I remember potato or ketchup ice cream, it made the customers laugh, but it wasn’t good.”

While the 130-flavor Glacier has built a solid reputation in terms of variety of taste, this represents only a small part of its production, ” not more than 5%,” confides Alan Girard.
Lavender, cucumber and mint, yuzu and lime, green tea and matcha or even sweet potato and cinnamon, it is nothing short of a forty original flavors what the ice cream kiosk offers.

Practical. Igloo is located at 14 avenue Miln in Carnac. Open from 1 April to 30 September, in the months of July and August the establishment is open from 12.00 to midnight. In the low season, it is open from 14:00 to 19:00.
