Hit by an extreme heat wave, California is in the grip of a fire progressing at an alarming rate. The authorities ordered Friday, September 2 the evacuation of thousands of inhabitants. The fire, dubbed Mill Fire, has already destroyed several houses and threatens hundreds of others, in the very north of the great state, on the border with that of Oregon.
The flames are progressing “at a dangerous pace”, local Siskiyou County firefighters said. “Your life is in danger. Legal order to leave immediately. The area is, by law, closed to the public”, intimates the evacuation order, which applies in particular to the towns of Weed, Lake Shastina and Edgewood.
This new fire comes as California is hit by an extreme heat wave, with temperature peaks up to 46° Celsius next week.
