An American woman has woken up from a two-year coma following a violent assault in Jackson County, West Virginia. She identified her brother as her attacker, who was arrested and charged with attempted murder.
Her name is Wanda Palmer. The 51-year-old American was found in June 2020 bloodied in her home in Cottageville, and had fallen into a deep coma.
“She had a very significant head trauma which could correspond to a wound caused by a machete or an ax», Sheriff Ross Mellinger told a local news outlet.
Two years after this violent incident, she woke up and identified her brother as her attacker, according to local police information.
“Attacked, beaten and left for dead, Wanda Palmer woke up to see the arrest of her attacker, her brother Daniel Palmer», Jackson County law enforcement said on social media Friday.

Upon awakening, the victim was unable to respond in full sentences, but able to give yes or no answers. Short sentences that were enough to identify his brother, Daniel Palmer, as the attacker.
The 55-year-old was later arrested and charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault.
