Thanks to the association “Everyone sings against cancer” and the cook Sébastien Gaches, the Ruthenian hospital offered, this Friday, a convivial meal to hospitalized children, their families and the nursing staff who accompany them. A great success for this “Toques et Truck” operation which aims to bring joy to life.
Colorful tables, multicolored pennants, a food truck where lunch is prepared in a musical atmosphere. The guinguette spirit invites you to lie down on deckchairs in acid tones. You could almost imagine yourself in a restaurant, in the distance, bathed in the sun. But in reality, the public who responded yesterday to the invitation of the association “Everyone sings against cancer”, was at the Jacques-Puel hospital in Rodez.

It is the twentieth establishment, in France, visited by the association whose headquarters are in Villefrnche-de-Rouergue (see elsewhere). For this beautiful celebration of solidarity, the association has invited Sébastien Gaches. The chef from Aveyron is participating for the second time in this solidarity operation. The hospital staff, in contact with the children, was able to enjoy a brunch in the morning. This was followed by a midday meal and a pastry workshop in the afternoon. “We want to give the joy of living. Our job is to create moments of sharing and exchange. We want the time of a meal, the nursing staff, the guests, the families and the children to forget that they are in the hospital”says Lucile Cormier, the association’s project manager.
It must be said that Sébastien Gache has succeeded well, by putting the small dishes in the big ones in order to make people forget the gloomy atmosphere of the hospital center. The menu of the day offered, such as the strawberry or zucchini salad and the chef’s burger known for his black flambadou, made you want to sit down. The apron tight on the waist, the Aveyronnais was helped by several volunteers to take away or table service. You could also order and be served, as in a real restaurant. “I find the cause superb. If we can lend a hand to help hospitalized children and that it does them good, I do it”enthuses Sébastien Gaches, who is in his third solidarity operation with the association.
As long as there is joy, there is life
The association Everyone sings against cancer, known at the national level, has its headquarters in Villefranche-de-Rouergue, in Aveyron. She is renowned for her cancer awareness campaigns. Its missions can be summed up in a slogan: “as long as there is joy, there is life”. Its mission is to change the way patients look, to transform the hospital into a place of joy, to promote the well-being of patients and carers and to offer times to escape from the hospital. On Operation Toques and Truck, a hundred volunteers provided a helping hand, while a hundred did so at the national level.
