USA-Consumer confidence lowest since February 2021

PARIS, June 28 (Reuters) – U.S. consumer confidence fell more sharply than expected in June, falling to its lowest level since February 2021, on high inflation and concerns over economic growth, shows on Tuesday the Conference Board’s monthly survey.

The Conference Board’s confidence index fell to 98.7 from 103.2 in May.

Economists polled by Reuters expected an average index of 100.4 after the figure of 106.4 initially announced for the month of May.

The component of consumer judgment on the current situation fell to 147.1 against 147.4 (149.6 in the first estimate) and that of expectations was at its lowest level since March 2013, 66.4 after 73.7 in May ( 77.5 in first estimate).
