Warwick Cheese recalls certain products

(Quebec) Certain products from Fromage Warwick should not be consumed because they have not been prepared and packaged in such a way as to ensure their safety.

The Ministère de l’Agriculture, des Pêcheries et de l’Alimentation (MAPAQ) specifies that these are five types of Jersey-type cheddar cheese, a Lemeric type reblochon cheese with a soft, washed-rind paste, and also two-litre containers of milk.

These products were offered for sale until Wednesday, July 13 inclusively, in several establishments in Quebec, refrigerated or at room temperature, depending on the product.

MAPAQ reports that Fromage Warwick, established in the municipality of the same name in Estrie, is voluntarily recalling the products in question. People who have them are invited to return them to the establishment where they were purchased, or to throw them away.

MAPAQ reminds that even if the products concerned do not show any signs of tampering or suspicious odors, their consumption may represent a health risk.

However, no case of illness associated with the consumption of these foods has been reported to MAPAQ to date.

On the other hand, pregnant women, people with weakened immune systems, children and the elderly are advised that Franc-Gilles Cheshire-type firm cheese was made from unpasteurized milk, without the retailer mentions it on the label. Units of this product were also sold out through Wednesday.
