What to do with a child who often refuses to eat?

It sometimes takes several meals for the child to agree to taste a food.

If it is normal for a child not to like all foods, it is the repetition that will allow him to taste them and appreciate them one day. Presenting it to him on different occasions can thus arouse his curiosity.

Normal oppositional behavior

All children, especially from the age of 2, go through a phase of food refusal of certain foods, including those that they could enjoy until now. From this age, the character asserts itself as well as the affinities, whether for food, friends or activities in general.

If your child only asks for the same foods, it is because they are reassuring for him and he is afraid of novelty. It is therefore up to the parent to vary the menus in order to present them regularly with others without forcing them.

How to encourage him to taste?

Rather than insisting, forcing him to taste it, or cooking him the same thing all the time, vary the foods by presenting them together on his plate or on the table and ensuring that he has 1 to 2 foods that are safe to eat. If he refuses, be patient, represent him regularly while leaving him the possibility of taking them or not.

On the other hand, do not redo food only for him, otherwise he will understand that he can refuse to taste since he will always have what he wants anyway.
