When these two kitties entered a home, they started to shine and got their wish just in time for the New Year.
Mustard seeds and MopsaMolly
About a month ago, Molly, a volunteer for the SPCA of Tompkins County, opened her home to two shelter kittens, giving them a fresh start.
The kittens, Mopsa and Mustardseed, quickly found themselves at home in their new room. Mopsa dozed off in her comfortable bed while her brother, Mustardseed, strutted up to his foster mother for attention.
“Mopsa is the softest little ball of calico fluff. She likes to take things at her own pace. Mustard Seed is bigger with less color (and a cute orange-striped tail). He has a dreamy disposition – he came out of the wearer purrs and is a natural lap-kitten.”
Molly
As Mopsa curiously explored and investigated her new surroundings, her brother happily followed behind, eager to join in every escapade. Before long Molly found them both taking a break from the pen as they scurried around the room like they owned the place.
“Mopsa is very alert and was definitely the mastermind behind the escape from the pen. She can often be seen standing on her hind legs and leaning casually against something.”

Mustardseed loved being close to his foster mother. He often rolled around her feet while Mopsa snuggled peacefully in her lap. Finally, he curled up into a ball at her feet, perfectly content and relaxed.
“He can sit on them all he wants. He plays hard and sleeps hard.”

Despite having many cozy sleeping spots, both kitties liked the glass weighing bowl as their preferred perch.
They made weigh-ins effortless for Molly by stepping into the bowl herself. “They really have a handle on the self-weighing station. This is a daily routine to make sure the kittens are gaining enough weight and to track when they hit two pounds.”

“Mustardseed got off my lap to eat seconds of dinner, and Mopsa took the opportunity to stretch out and take the whole lap to herself. Mustardseed tends to get a little jealous in this situation.”
Instead of fighting with his sister, he squeezed between Mopsa and his foster mother and snuggled up against Molly’s stomach to be extra close.

Mopsa was unfazed by his brother’s unbridled energy. Even as he collapsed on top of her while she slept, she continued to doze and purr loudly. She also took her caregiving duties seriously, washing her brother’s face and cleaning her foster mother’s hand before falling asleep.
“These kittens fall asleep as quickly as I do in front of the TV at night.”
Molly
When they weren’t curled up in Molly’s lap, they were out wrestling anything they could get their paws on.
The kittens quickly hit the two-pound mark and were ready for adoption. Molly hoped they would find a loving home together before the holidays.

“When they first came to me, Mustardseed weighed considerably more than Mopsa, but through her habit of eating her own food and then moving on to his scraps, she almost caught up with him.”
After a few weeks in foster care, the two siblings got the best news they had hoped for.

A loving family fell head over heels for the brother-sister duo and wanted to make their dream come true. The night before they set off on their new adventure, they spent plenty of quality time cuddling with their foster mother.
“It was a real snuggle party in my lap on their last night in our home.”
They found their forever home togetherThe adopter
“It took them less than 24 hours to warm up and want hugs. They run around like crazy and sleep often,” the adopter shared. Mustardseed impressed his new family by jumping through the center hole of a cat tunnel, and Mopsa charmed everyone by claiming their lap.
The kittens are enjoying their New Year with their forever family in their dream home.
