where can you eat ice cream in the city center?

In the course of a year, three ice cream parlors have been established in the center of Poitiers, two of which this summer (1). These arrivals add to a now robust supply of glaciers in Poitiers (2).

The three new glaciers

Ernest, Place Charles-de-Gaulle. It is a very well-known name in La Rochelle. The Ernest ice cream parlor opened on Place Charles-de-Gaulle in Poitiers almost a month ago. It offers artisanal ice cream produced in Charente-Maritime. The local aspect is highlighted, so much so that a taste “made in Nouvelle-Aquitaine” is offered: Bordeaux canelé! The cone with a ball costs €4.

Grom, rue Gambetta. Grom is an Italian ice cream parlor spread all over the world. The manager of the La Gazette restaurant in Poitiers had the idea to bring the brand to the front of his establishment. It offers ten rather classic flavours. The ball costs €3.40.

In Poitiers, a scoop of ice cream costs between €2.50 and €4

Mustache, rue de la Regratterie. Mustache opened a year ago in Poitiers and is a Breton chain that can be found in many French cities. Among the flavors produced in Saint-Malo, Schwarzwald and amour de glace have been awarded a gold medal several times at the international competition in Lyon. For a ball, count €3.90.

Historic chocolate makers

Fink, Market Street. For several years now, the famous Fink chocolate shop has been offering ice cream right in front of its shop on rue du Marché. An artisan ice cream produced by a master maker in the Fink laboratory in Poitiers-sud. We find traditional flavors and some new ones like the duo of roasted almonds and white chocolate. While the most requested ice cream at Fink remains chocolate. Each ball costs €3.

Benoît, rue des Cordeliers. It is the most historic point of sale. Chocolatier Benoît has been offering his ice creams for eighteen years on rue des Cordeliers. Here it benefits from the flow of passers-by, but also from the arrival of regulars. Among the traditional flavors, vanilla is a bestseller. The ball costs €3.

Additional business activity

The pasta factory, rue Carnot. Italian ice creams, the real ones. This is what the Italian grocer on rue Carnot promises with its ice creams produced in Romans-sur-Isère by the creator Gemelli. Their special character is to contain 0% glucose and 0% air. Here the limoncello taste is very successful. The individual ball costs €2.50.

Café de la Paix, Place Leclerc. The historic café on the Place d’Armes offers ice cream for the first time this summer: sorbets with traditional flavors and some fantasies like “the way of the Smurfs”. The ice creams are produced in Mauzé-sur-le-Mignon, in Deux-Sèvres. The single ball costs €2.60.

Storkenes Reden, Markosgade. The Alsatian merchant stays true to itself and offers ice cream produced by an Alsatian artisan. The taste of Mirabelle plum and fir liqueur recalls the origin of the ice cream. The ball costs €2.90.

(1) A third ice cream parlor could even have opened this summer, as the famous Amorino chain has eyed a location on rue Carnot. The company may not have said its last word and could very well arrive in Poitiers in the coming months…

(2) In addition to these brands, several specialty snack companies (Yogurt Factory, Mise au carré, La Chocolatine, etc.) offer a variety of frozen products.
