For some time now, at least twelve cats have disappeared in the Village de la Forêt, in Évreux, more specifically in the area of rue de Washington and rue des Biches. A new dark series, ten years after similar events. In 2014, we resonated mysterious disappearances of cats in Forest Village. One resident even found her cat dismembered in front of her door. The indignation and the strong mobilization of the inhabitants had stopped these disappearances. So the facts started again.
Unexplained disappearances
The residents are well aware of the many dangers in a cat’s life, such as being hit by a car, having a bad encounter with a dog, etc.
But the number of disappearances without bodies being found is cause for concern. According to the residents, the trail of the cat-eating fox also does not hold when you take into account the times, the inhabited places and certain elements collected by vigilant residents. “On the other hand, our missing felines were not collectible or breed cats that could be sold for a lot of money, but ‘regular’ adult cats,” they note.
A resident testifies
Sylvaine, who lives in the rue des Biches, mourns the sixth disappearance of a cat in a row. Mirabelle was a 9-year-old cat, sterilized, chipped, vaccinated, etc. Dynamic, flexible, dexterous and above all very attached to his house, his mistress and his fellow cat. Mirabelle was the attraction of the neighbors when she accompanied her owner on the daily dog walk around the neighborhood.
Sylvaine testifies, with emotion, with tears in her eyes: “Tuesday, July 9, like every day, at 7 o’clock, I opened the door of the house for her overlooking the yard, and she went with my other cat, a little round in the surroundings lasting half an hour. When I saw the other cat come home at 7:30 a.m. I looked for him for hours in vain I post on post and in the surrounding mailboxes without result…”
Despite all her efforts, Sylvaine never found Mirabelle, dead or alive, and had no news of her fate. A handlist was submitted to the municipal police and the national police. “In the case of a previous disappearance, in 2021, I wrote to the mayor, who replied to me and contacted the municipal police. She then patrolled regularly. Very recently, I renewed my information with the first judge,” continues Ébroïcienne.

The facts indicate that the person suspected of kidnapping the cats lives in a very dense area. It is clear that the residents mobilized. They observe, scrutinize, verify and list disturbing facts. They are determined to catch the perpetrator(s) in order to provide evidence to the police.
