Why a change in the strategic posture of the United States is not unlikely

No one talks about it openly yet, but everyone thinks about it. In five months, the mid-term elections in the United States, then the presidential election of 2024, risk once again changing the situation in Washington. And with it, the strategic posture of American power at a time when it plays a major role in the conflict in Ukraine as in the tensions with China.

The Iranian leaders, who are wondering if they should sign a new nuclear agreement with Washington, the masters of the Kremlin, engaged in a muscular standoff with the West, the Chinese, launched in a challenge to American supremacy, or even the Europeans, now reassured by the return of NATO’s shield… everyone is wondering what will happen if, as many analysts predict, the Republicans regain control of Congress in November; and, above all, whether Donald Trump or a “Trumpist” wins the race for the White House in November 2024.

A Republican victory in November, especially if marked by pro-Trump dynamics within the American right, would mark a new era of paralysis
