Woman planned to have a pair of kittens but left with three in her arms, best result ever

A woman planned to adopt a couple of kittens but ended up leaving with three in her arms – the best result ever.

A woman was set to adopt two kittens from her local rescue, Foster Kitten Mama, but a third playful kitten caught her eye.

It all began when Heidi Shoemaker, the founder of the rescue, took in a heavily pregnant cat who had spent days hiding in an animal shelter. Shortly after arriving in foster care, she went into labor.

“She got here just in time. I’m so thankful I was able to get those fleas off her (before the babies were born),” Heidi shared.

The cat, Eden, gave birth to three healthy kittens, two with adorable cow designs and one plain black. They quickly settled in and nursed contentedly. Away from the constant noise of the shelter, Eden relaxed with her little ones by her side.

The kittens quickly gained weight and strength. Even before their eyes opened, they were a tight-knit trio, often cuddling with their arms around each other while nursing.

With the loving support of her foster mother, Eden became more confident in raising her babies. The trio reached many milestones and blossomed into active, plump young cats.

“Eden is still a timid girl, but I know she’ll be great if she gets enough time to decompress from her past hardships.”

With a spring in their step, the kittens zipped around the playpen and got into all sorts of antiques. Their mother watched from the sidelines and enjoyed some peace and quiet.

Noticing that she was a bit shy around people, the kittens snuggled up to her and purred as if to comfort her. Heidi knew that behind those cautious eyes lay a sweet soul longing for love.

The trio (Everette, Evan and Elysse) were a happy, lively crew. They darted around like little whirlwinds, hurled cat poles, swiped at toys with ferocious energy and enjoyed every playful moment together.

Their foster mom used the scraper to socialize with mom, the kittens would immediately pounce on it and treat it as their new toy.

When the family of four became available for pre-adoption, two of the kittens, Elysse and Evan, quickly caught an adopter. She fell head over heels for them and planned to welcome the couple into her home.

A few days later, as Heidi continued to find homes for the remaining two, she heard back from the adopter.

The adoptee couldn’t stop thinking about Everette. Seeing the three happily jumping around together and feeling their close bond, she couldn’t separate them and decided to welcome one more into her home.

“She was just going to adopt the two. Then she ended up saying she wanted all three,” Heidi told Love Meow.

When the adopter arrived to collect the kittens, the trio snuggled into her arms and purred with delight. “The adopter already has two young cats, so they all get to enjoy themselves together.”

“It’s so wonderful to know that they will always be together.”

After the kittens left for their forever homes, Eden continued to make progress with socialization. About a week later, her wish came true: Eden found the perfect home.

“Her adopter has adopted two more of my feral moms, both of whom are thriving now. One is even a lap kitten. Eden will now be forever safe and loved and able to adjust at her own pace.”
