A woman took in a kitten who had been at the shelter for days and watched him regain his spark.

When Nadija, an animal rescuer and carer, met Chip the kitten at the county shelter, he was desperately waiting for a foster home.
Alone in his kennel, he was dirty, malnourished and had a severe eye infection. Even though Nadija already had her hands full with foster families, she couldn’t help but think about him, hoping that he would be picked up soon.
After more than a week without anyone taking him in, she decided to step in to give him a chance at a better life.

After Chip had his eye surgery, Nadija brought him home and made him comfortable with cozy, warm blankets. Although he was small and covered in flea dirt, he soon felt safe and fell fast asleep in his new bed.
For the first few days, he spent most of his time resting so that his body could heal and regain strength.

“I spent a lot of time just laying with him, which he loved, cuddling him and making him feel safe and loved.”
With lots of TLC, Chip’s spirits were lifted and he began to play and show interest in toys. But his energy remained low and he needed help with baths and massages to calm his stomach.

He woke up when his foster mother was around. It was as if he understood her concern and sought comfort at her side. Despite his stomach issues, Chip was always cheerful, enjoying his meals and soaking up all the extra treats.
He “thanked” his human by washing her face and purring gently into her ears.

After nearly two months of careful care from his foster mom, Chip finally felt better and started using the litter box more consistently. “It’s been such a rollercoaster ride with this sweet boy – a ton of medicine and different foods, but this makes it all worth it.”
He was ready to have fun and Nadija knew the perfect companions to introduce him to.

Chip met Milo (grey) and Alfie (tuxedo) who immediately unsettled him. He tumbled and ran with them, keeping up with the boys despite his stubby legs.
“He’s an energetic little potato who falters, but that adds to his charm.”
Nadia
His limbs appear shorter than usual, causing him to waddle when he walks, but the determined little guy always holds his own during his playful romps with his much larger feline friends.
“Chip loves to play, hang out in a cozy bed with a heating pad and loves his scraper. Although he is not a ‘normal’ kitten, he is doing well.”
Nadia
Chip needs extra help to reach his milestones and improve his mobility, but he is unstoppable in his zest for life. “He is such a happy, playful (in his own way), cuddly boy who deserves the absolute best.”
Alfie, who is blind, is totally in love with Chip, who follows him around and gets him into all kinds of trouble.

Chip has a loving human who caters to his every whim and soft blankets to keep him cozy at night. He sleeps in every morning and rolls around in bed until breakfast is served.

A few months ago, Chip was a tiny kitten alone in a shelter kennel, his future uncertain.
Now thriving with a foster family who root for him every day, he continues to amaze them with his resilience and playful spirit.
