USA – He has the physique, the diplomas and the pedigree that an American politician has dreamed of. However, Jack Schlossberg, grandson of John F. Kennedy, is not officially seeking office in the US presidential election in November. The one who describes himself as one “Big beta trying, only trying to bring the truth” prefer to comment on it.
US presidential election: Joe Biden challenged five questions about his candidacy in his own camp
So that’s what he’s going to do about it US Vogue. The US magazine announced his appointment as political correspondent on Wednesday, July 10, during an interview. “Galvanized by his grandfather’s spirit, Schlossberg wants to bring levity to a serious moment in American politics when many feel democracy itself is at stake”explains the publication.
His trademark? Absurd videos
Ease is the trademark of the son of the diplomat Caroline Kennedy, who grew up in the inner circle, studied at Yale and Harvard, but recently found his audience on social networks. His videos, often absurd, mix political commentary and offbeat staging.
In one, he recites a poem by Lord Byron while gliding on a waveboard.
In others, he moonwalks in socks in the middle of a supermarket or imitates classic dance moves shirtless. The comments are the same every time. “I’m afraid he’s my type of man.”, “save me mr president”, “I swear I will marry this guy”. We also often read comparisons with “Little Edie”, real name Edith Bouvier, the cousin of Jackie Kennedy, whose eccentricity was dissected in the documentary Gray Garden.
The 30-year-old also uses his account to defend his political views. A supporter of Biden during his 2020 campaign, he repeatedly attacked his own cousin, Robert Kennedy Jr., an independent candidate against the outgoing president in 2024. Last year, Jack Schlossberg accused his elder of “to shame” his family. Recently, he has released several slightly odd videos in which he adopts regional American accents to attack his cousin. Like in this one, where he plays a Southerner named Wade, who is a fan of Biden and calls Robert Kennedy Jr. “liar” :
A stepping stone to a political career?
For his first videos to Voguehe chose to comment on a Supreme Court decision and the disastrous Biden vs. Trump debate – with arguments as hard-hitting as “Think for yourself” And “We only hear bad news in the media”.
In his launch interview with the magazine, he explains his approach. “If you’re asking people to think about serious issues, you have to make it entertaining or funny. This is what all great leaders do. You cannot state how terrible things are. You need to bring positivity and good energy to the things you think are important. That’s the only strategy I have. »
He is not the first in his family to invest in the media to build his image. His uncle, John Kennedy Jr., a 1990s icon and sex symbol before his death in a plane crash in 1999, launched the magazine George, devoted to politics and lifestyle. At the time, JFK’s son saw the publication as an opportunity to make his own name before entering politics himself. It remains to be seen whether Jack Schlossberg has the same ambitions.
