The French insurance and asset management group shows a real appetite for these profiles of strategy consultants. Last summer, Alexander Vollert, a 4th alumni in the sector – all McKinsey alumni – joined the Axa Group Executive Committee, and in particular the CEO of Axa France since spring 2021, Patrick Cohen. Like the Axa Group’s strategy and development director since 2019, Georges Desvaux. This makes the Axa group the second largest recruiter of former consultants to its executive committee, after LVMH.

A young woman, former consultant, enters the ultra-closed circle of the big bosses in the CAC 40. Christel Heydemann, two years from BCG, thus takes up her duties as managing director of Orange from 1.eh April 2022.

There are few Sciences Po graduates in strategy consulting, and especially in MBBs. Étienne Lacourt is part of the exception that proves the rule. He earned a Masters in Finance and Political Science from this Parisian graduate school/university in 2008, then went on to earn a Masters in Economics/Public and International Affairs from Bocconi University in Milan in 2010.

Consultant Étienne Lacourt made two stints at McKinsey: When he left his studies between 2011 and 2017, when he was promoted to senior engagement manager, then between 2020 and 2022, when he reached the rank of associate partner.

Between the two, the consultant made a foray into the political sphere, as head of the department “Projects” (political innovation projects), member of the LaREM Management Committee during Emmanuel Macron’s campaign in 2017, then member of the party’s executive committee after the election. They are a few consultants committed to the candidate Macron during his first campaign, above all senior profiles, and initially Paul Midy, CEO of the En Marche party (also formerly McKinsey), but also young consultants such as Guillaume Kasbarian (formerly from Monitor and PMP) or Pierre Bouillon (ex-BCG).

Between 2018 and 2019, Étienne Lacourt returned to the board as a freelancer before taking the post of General Secretary of the Paris municipal campaign of En Marche (between February and November 2019) before returning to McKinsey.
