Intermarché recalls Hafner brand strawberry and raspberry tartlets for a risk of salmonellosis contamination.
The pastries in question are rectangular in shape, come in packages of 60 pieces and were marketed between June 3 and June 8, 2022, indicates the reminder sheet published this Saturday, June 18 on the specialized site Rappel Conso.
Their use-by date is March 31, 2023. The tartlets were marketed throughout France from June 3 to 8, 2022.
The batch number affected by this recall is 250322. Its barcode is 3068220269000.
A risk of contamination with salmonellosis, the second cause of food-borne illnesses in Europe, is the reason why this measure has been taken. “People who have consumed these products have gastrointestinal disorders often accompanied by fever,” says the reminder sheet.
People who have purchased the product are asked not to consume it but to return it to the store where they bought it, to contact the point of sale or to destroy the tartlets. A refund is possible.
According to the Institut Pasteur, “most Salmonella are housed in the gut of vertebrate animals and are most often transmitted to humans through contaminated food. In human pathology, salmonellosis includes two main types of affections: gastroenteritis and typhoid and paratyphoid fevers (…) A wide variety of food products, consumed raw, undercooked or having been the subject of post-contamination -cooking, can be the source of human contamination. These are meat products, including cold cuts, eggs or raw milk, including certain cheeses.
“In the elderly, infants, pregnant women or immunocompromised people, the infection can be severe or even fatal”, also indicates the Institut Pasteur.
