Devastated by storm Alex, she is forced to adopt her dog

Their life changed on October 2, 2020, when the waves washed away the land and the house became uninhabitable. Marion was a real estate agent, earning a good living. “I worked hard.” In the aftermath of the climatic disaster, he had to face the facts: their world had collapsed. Marion fought against the insurance companies, against the administration, against the whole world. And also against herself, so as not to be discouraged, overwhelmed by problems. “Since then I have had a life of difficulty.” The young woman finally took refuge, after last winter, in desperation, on a boat of less than eight meters that she bought. The sailboat is moored in the port of Marina Baie des Anges, in Villeneuve-Loubet.

Overwhelmed by the administration, Marion lost her footing. She does not work anymore. The dog is a heavy load. The Peyote massif can enter the boat, but not move in it. So Marion pitched a tent for her on the quay, not without attracting remarks and enmities from people unaware of the terrible twist of fate that brought her there.

Marion spends part of her budget on the food of her Montagne des Pyrénées which never leaves her. She is aware that this situation is no longer tenable. She has therefore made the heavy decision in recent days to have it adopted. “You can’t even imagine, it’s like having my child adopted by a new family. It’s very hard.”

“Storm Alex never actually stops”

Albert Calamuso, deputy mayor of Villeneuve-Loubet, launched an appeal this Wednesday morning on Facebook to help Marion find a new master in Peyotl.

“I have no other choice, she confides. Especially since the heat wave is coming. I can’t leave it like this. I’m also looking for a job as a real estate agent, but as long as I have Peyote it won’t be possible. It’s a heartbreaker, but having him with me blocks me for everything. For example, I have no possible relocation with such a big dog.”

Marion hopes her appeal will be heard. “Peyote is a sweetheart, he loves children, he gets along with all animals.” She smiles tenderly: “I have to warn you, he’s useless. He can’t herd sheep, and if a burglar comes into your house he’ll hand him the bidou for cuddles. He’s just dog love. A big teddy bear pet that needs a lot of affection.” Be careful, Peyote has a flaw: he can run away.

Marion hopes to find him a suitable place, and fights to get out of the infernal spiral. “You know, the storm Alex never actually stops”, she sighs.

If you want to help Marion and Peyotl, you can write to her by SMS (no call), on 06.29.39.59.40.
