The lawyer Pascal Garbarini, who had been placed in police custody at the Ajaccio gendarmerie, Thursday, May 12 in the early morning, came out free in the evening, shortly after 8:30 p.m. He was heard within the framework of an ongoing judicial investigation, targeting the members of the Petit Bar criminal team, for which he is the historic lawyer. No charges were brought against the criminal.
This placement in police custody had been ordered by the specialized interregional jurisdiction (JIRS) of Marseille following an investigation opened in 2018, relating to acts of aggravated money laundering. The Petit Bar band, born in the early 2000s, is suspected of having cut Ajaccio and part of Corse-du-Sud. Its presumed leader, Jacques Santoni, 44, of whom Me Garbarini is the defender, had been placed in pre-trial detention in January 2021, then released for health reasons.
Other people have been indicted in this case, including relatives of Jacques Santoni, as well as Antony Perrino, an island businessman, boss of one of the main construction companies in Corsica. A Corsican lawyer registered with the Paris bar, Pascal Garbarini, 58, is known to have been one of Yvan Colonna’s lawyers.
