This summer, Jade Génin treats us again to unusual ice creams from her chocolate factory: snow granitas and finely grated ice cream, available from June to the end of September 2023. Inspired by Japanese kakigori, these frozen creations are a real treat! We tested it and we’re telling you.
The summer season promises to be delicious too snow granites of Jade Genin. Do you know kakigoris, this Japanese specialty made of finely grated ice, most of the time accompanied by a syrup in the regular version?
Imagine yourself enjoying an icecream ultra-refreshing, whose airy and light texture is achieved by finely grating the ice to order. And the special snow granites of Jade Genin ? They are devoid of flavourings, colorings or syrup and are made exclusively from carefully selected fresh and natural products.
It’s neither granitas nor sorbets, we’re not into flavored crushed ice at all, we’re into airy ice so finely grated that it’s ultra-light and super refreshing. The aromas are rich and powerful. The perfumes change depending on arrivals, during our visit we were able to discover:
- Raspberry snow granita and lemon meringue,
- Tahitian vanilla snow granitaa frenzy for vanilla lovers,
- Mango and passion fruit snow granita,
- Kalamansi snow granite and meringue with aquafaba (chickpea soaking water)
- Pistachio snow granita by Bronte.
Each granita is a unique delight that respects the taste of the chosen fruit or product, for an extremely surprising result. We are surprised by the snowy and airy texture, achieved without crushed ice. We feel Jade Génin’s passion through these carefully prepared granitas, to “sublimate products around these 3 words: freshness, deliciousness and lightness”.
The joys of Jade Genin is characterized by the creation of the ice, without color, aroma, syrup, milk or cream. In fact, note that these granita ice creams are completely vegan, egg-free and dairy-free. The result is a refreshing, light, digestible dessert, not particularly sweet, but extremely delicious, which promises unmatched lightness.
During our visit, we also tested the ice cream version in the same format. Jade Genin’s ice cream is made without the use of a turbine! Instead, they are also torn by the minute, just like his snow granitas. This innovative method, developed by Jade, avoids injecting air into ice cream (unlike traditional ice creams), which makes it possible to create extremely intense flavors and a particularly creamy texture. True to its principles, Jade uses only top quality ingredients for its ice creams, such as Tahitian vanilla or Bronte pistachio. Moreover, thanks to its technique, it does not need to use stabilizers and additives commonly present in industrial ice cream.
Count €7.50 per ice slush snow or €5.50 for an ice cream to treat yourself to a unique taste experience, between Japanese tradition and culinary ingenuity. Then you are ready to discover granite snow ? The shop is open every day except Monday.
