Jan. 6 Board of Inquiry Confirms Trump’s Central Role in Capitol Attack

In a new hearing, the parliamentarians notably returned to an evening in December 2020, where several unofficial advisers to the American president pushed him to continue his accusations of fraud despite the absence of evidence.

Very special advisers intruding on the President’s office, shouts and insults erupting during an all-night meeting at the White House, and far-right groups preparing for action in response to tweets of Donald Trump.

The seventh public hearing of the House of Representatives Committee investigating the events of January 6, 2021, presented Tuesday afternoon with new evidence on the origins of the riot, describing how the assault on the Capitol had not been a peaceful demonstration beyond the control of its organizers, but rather the culmination of a plan prepared several weeks in advance.

Using the same method as in previous hearings, aiming to “Fighting fictions with facts”according to one of its members, the commission continued its reconstruction of the events, relying on several witnesses involved in the events, close collaborators of Trump…
