This Friday, Juan Branco revealed the outlines of his action as La Liga’s lawyer in order to obtain sanctions against PSG following Kylian Mbappé’s extension during the transfer window. But first, Juan Branco confirmed this Friday that he was going to ask the Minister of Sports Amélie Oudéa-Castera to intervene in this file.
“We are going to request the repeal of the approval of Mbappé’s contract from the Minister of Sports because it is the supervisory authority of the sports administrations and the LFP acts by delegation from the FFF, indicated the lawyer facing the press. Subsequently, we will appeal to the LFP so that it acts via its legal commission the DNCG in order to operate a control of opportunity on the accounts of the PSG. This is a legal step which will allow us to establish whether Mbappé’s contract is within the economic parameters which are imposed by the regulations of the DNCG and UEFA financial fair play.”

A domino effect after the cancellation of Mbappé’s contract?
The day after his appearance on RMC in the program After Foot, Juan Branco once again presented his project in this case against PSG. With all the effects that this produces. the inability for Paris Saint-Germain to invalidate this contract or give it effect. In turn, this will cause any contract signed by PSG after July 25, 2021 to be called into question.”
Branco promises “a graduated response”
On June 25, 2021, PSG thus managed to have its accounts validated with the DNCG. We are going to see little by little what is the capacity of the French professional footballing bodies and also regulatory and administrative authorities to react to our appeals and our requests, explained the lawyer for La Liga again during of his press conference. As time goes by, we will increase the pressure. Because more than 10 years ago, it was clear to everyone that all of Paris Saint-Germain was acting outside the rules and standards applied in terms of financial fair play and including by means of methods that can be considered fraudulent.
The threat of legal action against the leaders of PSG
Beyond the appeal to the government and the French courts around Kylian Mbappé’s contract, Juan Branco has also decided to bring this case to the European level. According to him, UEFA has not managed this file well and it is necessary to go to the next level: the European Commission in order to study the case of PSG vis-à-vis competition laws in the European Union. . But the La Liga lawyer does not want to stop there. If he does not win his case against the Parisian club, Juan Branco has confirmed that he plans to directly target the leaders responsible in his eyes for illegal maneuvers via sponsors or nominees to inject cash into PSG. .
“If we see in the short term that there are no consequences and follow-up given to our various appeals, we will not hesitate to go upmarket, to harden our game, still dropped Juan Branco during his take. We will not hesitate to put in place procedures which, there, could personally reach the leaders of Paris Saint-Germain and those responsible for these operations which we consider to be fraudulent.
And the La Liga lawyer clarified: “We are not in this spirit today but we have prepared this graduated response which would ultimately allow us to obtain results. […] For the first time today, we are relatively confident about our ability to really have an effect on national and European regulatory authorities in order to obtain a change in the rules.”
